Research Fellow (Molecular Microbiology):
For Centre’s Bioaugmentation Cluster
Advanced Environmental Biotechnology Centre
The individuals will have experience in Molecular Microbiology, and will integrate into existing AEBC projects designed to identify interactions between organisms that can ultimate lead to improvements in bioprocesses. This will entail a combination of molecular microbial genetics, community analysis, strain characterization and management, biological interaction analysis, as well as development of screening methodology relevant to bioprocess applications.
Requirements:
• A recognized PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Environmental Microbiology & Biotechnology or other equivalent discipline.
• Expertise and experience in Molecular Microbiology (fresh PhD graduates are welcome, but 2-3 years of post-doctoral experience will be an advantage)
• Skills in some of the following will be considered favorably: recombinant DNA techniques, microbial isolation and cultivation, molecular characterization of strains, biochemical and chemical analytical methods, metabolic profiling, microscopy (both fluorescence and confocal) and image analysis, molecular community analysis (DGGE, T-RFLP, sequencing, pyrosequencing), metagenomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, protozoa-bacteria interaction, phage-bacteria interaction
• Good planning and management skills
• Ability to integrate well into a team of researchers with different backgrounds and the ability to learn new techniques
• Good PR and communication skills
The position is expected to be available from Aug/Sep 2012.
