R3C is established as a platform for waste management research, especially on resource recovery and remediation, under NTU’s Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI). Besides its main objective on developing cutting edge research and strengthening Singapore’s environment and water industry’s capability in R3 area, R3C aims to develop a unique PhD program to help build the R3 research manpower pool for the nation and the region.
The research focus within R3C is grouped into three themes.
- Waste to materials
- Waste to energy
- Contaminated site remediation
A distinctive feature of this program is its multidisciplinary nature and combination of basic and applied research in resource recovery and remediation. Students of this program will have an opportunity to work with researchers and professors from different environment and water-related areas in NTU; other PhD research topics can be proposed by students and their professors. If necessary, some students may be attached to our collaborating universities for short period of time during their studies.
